The contract for the expansion of Iasi Airport was awarded to STRABAG in May 2022, with an impressive investment of almost 400 million RON. This significant undertaking has not only enhanced the airport's capacity but also provided passengers with enhanced convenience and efficiency.

Terminal 4 stands as a testament to modernity and innovation, boasting a range of cutting-edge facilities. Among these are 16 passenger elevators, one freight and passenger elevator capable of carrying loads up to 3000kg, and four strategically positioned escalators.

Notably, the installation process for the escalators was a remarkable feat, with all four units unloaded and positioned within the building in just five days, showcasing KONE's commitment to efficiency and excellence.

The elevators installed in Terminal 4 include 16 KONE MonoSpace 500 elevators, renowned for their smooth and silent operation, energy efficiency, and space-saving design. Additionally, one TranSys elevator caters to the transportation of heavy loads, ensuring seamless logistics within the terminal. Moreover, the inclusion of four TM110 escalators further enhances passenger mobility throughout the terminal, providing a seamless transition between levels.

Of the 16 lifts, 11 lifts have incorporated a circulating space underneath them which allows for additional safety measures to be implemented to backfill the counterweights. This ensures not only the smooth operation of the elevators but also the safety and security of passengers and staff alike.

The new Terminal 4 at Iasi Airport, with an area of 31,000 square meters, is specifically designed to accommodate the approximately 3.5 million passengers it estimates annually. Designed to handle both domestic and international flights, its spacious interiors and efficient layout effortlessly manage large crowds, especially during peak travel periods. The terminal's state-of-the-art facilities, including check-in counters, security screening areas, boarding gates, and baggage claim zones, prioritize passenger comfort and expedite processing times, ensuring a seamless travel experience. Equipped with modern amenities and advanced passenger flow management systems, Terminal 4 serves as a bustling transit hub, connecting travelers to destinations across Romania and beyond
